Sailors can now have additional resources to attain mastery at their fingertips with the new Center for Security Forces (CENSECFOR) mobile app that is available in the App Store, Google Play and Navy App Locker.

“The vision for this app is to reach directly to the deck plate Sailor,” said Center for Security Forces Command Master Chief Alex Hebert. “Nearly all young Sailors today have their own mobile device, and the benefit of being able to put valuable information at their fingertips is priceless.”

The app features two mobile courses that users can download. They are the “M9 Service Pistol Operator Training” and the “Personal Firearms Safety and Guidelines.” These courses are identical to those offered on Navy eLearning. Other courses, such as the M4 Rifle and M500 Shotgun, will become available for download in the future.

The app will also allow Sailors to submit their successful course completions to their electronic training jacket.

“One of the coolest features in the app that I like is the locations and points of contact for all our training sites,” Hebert said. “I remember in years past, a Sailor would arrive at the airport and have to figure out where the school is located. Now, the app provides the actual address, the telephone number, and pertinent information about the school. At some point, there may even be a hyperlink that directs users to a map with turn-by-turn directions.”

Recruiters, counselors and anyone interested in a career in Navy security will find the app very useful.

The color scheme , overall layout, and simple navigation all work together to make the app easy to use. Among the other app features is a reference center, resources, tutorials and much more. Users can submit valued feedback and ideas directly through the app.

The U.S. Navy Sea Warrior Program, PMW 240 Mobility, produced the app and Tracen Technologies Inc., a company that specializes in integrated mobile and web solutions, was the software engineer. The app is compatible with both iOS and Android mobile devices.
