Pearl Harbor-Hickam Highlights

Members of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) render honors during a chain of custody event for the remains of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Harry E. Harkness who was recently identified by the DPAA Laboratory at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, March 9. Harkness was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Calvary Regiment when he was killed in the winter of 1950 during combat near Unsan, North Korea. Musician 1st Class Travis Stanley, assigned to U.S. Pacific Fleet Band aboard Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19), plays the trombone while departing Joint Base Pearl Harbor- Hickam, March 6, in support of Pacific Partnership 2018 (PP18). PP18’s mission is to work collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships across the Indo-Pacific
Region. Pacific Partnership, now in its 13th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific.
