Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Morale, Welfare and Recreation

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s Outdoor Recreation Program will hold its first Trash Boat Regatta at Hickam Harbor Beach Park tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

All boats built for the regatta must be constructed out of previously used materials that would normally end up in landfill.

There will be a single paddler category as well as two multiple paddler categories with up to six paddlers in a boat. The multiple paddler small boats can be between 5 to 15 feet long and the large boats must be between 15 to 20 feet long. Prizes will be awarded to the first place boat in each category. Special prize categories include the boat that has the most creative use of materials, the “Titanic” award for the boat that has the best failure and the “People’s Choice” award.

Patrons are wecome to come out and watch the event from Hickam Beach and cheer on their favorite boat. The band Busekrus will provide live music.
