Gerald R. Ford has become ship’s namesake

A photograph shows Navigation Officer Gerald Ford taking a sextant reading aboard the USS Monterey (CVL 26) in 1944. USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), named in honor of our nation’s 38th president, is the lead ship of the new Gerald R. Ford class of aircraft carrier.
